Venom and Song is the second book in a series by Wayne Thomas Batson and Christopher Hopper. I didn't read the first book of the series but I will be sure to pick up a copy! I loved this book! It was a little hard to follow in the beginning since I had missed the first book but it quickly gets you caught up on what is going on. This fantasy for young adults was fantastic!

A group of seven kids are brought together to fight the Spider King in a strange world. Their lives have forever been changed with the knowledge that the powers they have secretly had their whole lives are because they are elves left on earth with parents that are not their own for their safety. The time has come for the Elf Lords to return home and save their people from evil and darkness.

The book was very well written. I had a hard time putting it down! Each page is filled with descriptive, adventure, romance and intrigue! Mysteries are unraveling as you go. The characters have real personalities as well as different powers making you want to know each of them. The villains are gruesome. You can't help but want them to loose the war!

I would recommend this book for anyone that likes a good fantasy! Young adult or not! I normally am not a huge fan of Fantasies but I decided to give Venom and Song a chance. I am so glad I did!

Never Let You Go By Erin Healy

Single Mom Lexi has a tough life raising her daughter alone after her drug dealing husband abandons them, her family was left in pieces after her sister was murdered now the murderer is up for parole and the unsavory people from her husbands past have suddenly reappeared along with her MIA husband that now wants to see their daughter. All the while strange things are happening all around Lexi that she just can't explain. Dark and light forces seem to be clashing around her and she is right in the middle of it.

I was very excited to be getting Never let you go to review. It sounded like a really great read! I was a little disappointed however. The book starts out a little slow so I had some trouble really getting into it.

As I continued reading the middle of the book did get better though, actually it got a lot better. I started really getting into the book and decided I could forgive the slow beginning, until I was getting to the end of the book. It quickly started going downhill for me again. With all of the really crazy things going on in the middle of the book I thought the end would be really great but it was very predictable. By the time I was reading the end of the book I had already figured out what was happening for the most part and what I hadn't was never really explained. I was left unsatisfied and with questions lingering. I hate loose ends in a book that leave you wondering what in the world you missed.

So in closing I think it is an OK book but not one of my favorites. You may enjoy it but I just found it a little disappointing.

Rick & Bubba's Big Honkin' Book of Grub

Rick and Bubba's Big Honkin' Book of Grub is not what you would expect. I thought this was going to be a recipe book. I was wrong. Instead I recieved one of the funniest down to earth recipe books I have ever read...ok it is the only funny recipe book I have ever read, but that is not the point.

I love how Rick Burgress and Bill (Bubba) Bussey have mixed funny stories and their own opinions on such things as their favorite restaurants, diets, diet foods and bacon, giblets, stuffing and so much more with their recipes. They love to eat, they love to eat good food (healthy or not) and they are not ashamed of it!

I really liked that the book was written in an easy to read laid back way as well. The chapters are short, the printing is large enough you can easily read it, and they write in a way that you feel like they are actually talking to you. There are a couple recipes throughout the book and at the end there are more great recipes from their wives and mothers.

The recipes that are included are simple, budget friendly and yummy sounding meals that anyone could make. You can find recipes for fudge, lasagna, hush puppies (I had never even heard of hush puppies before this book) and other great recipes that I am for sure going to try!

If you want a good laugh while you whip something up in the kitchen grab a copy of this book!

Have you ever been looking for some hope, inspiration, or a little bit of light in the dark? I just finished reading Kaleidoscope written by Patsy Clairmont. I have a whole new understanding of proverbs. This book has a way of making proverbs easier to relate and use in day to day life. Patsy Clairmont adds some personal information and humor that makes this a light and easy book to read.

At the end of each short and easy to read chapter is a list of questions that really make you think and help you to relate to the proverbs that are also at the end of each chapter. This really is a book women can read daily and use in life today.

I read this book and will read it again, probably a few times! If you are looking for a laugh and some inspiration ladies, this is the book to reach for!

This Biblezine is geared towards teen girls. I, myself as a teen would spend hours reading anything I could get my hands on including teen mags. I thought this magazine would be a great way for girls to read worthwhile content while still enjoying the things that draw a teen girls attention.

I was right. I think this biblezine is very well put together. It puts the contents of the bible into easy to understand languauge and in a way that teen girls can relate to their own lives. It also includes things like make up tips, dating don'ts, fashion tips, healthy eating and excercise information, stories from real teens, an"ask Jenna" column, interviews with Christian stars and more.

I think teen girls would thoroughly enjoy this magazine as well as learn important information that they can use everyday!It is easy to understand and relate to and there are plenty of glossy pics of celebs and we all know teens love celebrities!

About the Author: Dr Henslin is a licensed marriage and family therapist. Dr. Henslin joined by Daniel G. Amen (MD) have been adding brain imaging to their treatment of psychological, physical and spiritual problems. Together they have a counseling practice, Henslin and Associates, a Christian counseling group.

About the book: Dr. Henslin explains some of the brain activities that can effect your marriage. He has broken them down into five main imbalances that are common in marriages, the scattered lover, over-focused lover, blue mood lover, agitated lover and the anxious lover. Dr.Henslin also covers symptoms, methods of treatment and suggestions for helping cope for each one of the imbalances.

My Opinion: This is your brain in love is a very well written book. Dr. Henslin goes into a great amount of detail for each brain imbalance. There is a quiz for each kind of lover for readers to complete to determine what kind of lover you and/or your spouse is, and if you need to consult a physician for treatment. Dr. Henslin adds humour and compassion to his stories and opinions. It is a very easy book to read and understand. You feel confident in understanding what Dr. Henslin is trying to explain for each group.

I would recommend this book to anyone who feels they or their spouse has a brain imbalance. I am confident this book can help readers understand what could be going on in their brain, their spouses brain, get some ideas on how to cope, some tips to improve symptoms, information need to help a doctor diagnose you and bring some understanding and compassion for your self or your spouse while trying to fix the underlying problems.

Nicole Seitz keeps you guessing right to the very end. As family secrets slowly emerge, you connect with each of the characters making it easy to feel the pain, love, happiness and sadness of each character. Nicole Seitz gives us an close up and personal look at heartbreaking situations and difficult decisions many women deal with in life from a whole new set of eyes.

I would recommend giving this book a read. I found myself unwilling to put the book down any more than I had to. I laughed and cried all the way through the book and formed a real attachment to each of the characters.

My advice: If you read this book, keep the tissue box handy!

The Language of Love and Respect explains the different ways men and women communicate. Women, with love and men with respect. Dr. Eggrichsgoes into detail about the "pink" way woman communicate and the "blue" way men communicate, the three cycles of a relationship, and how to "decode" what our spouse is saying. He also teaches ways of keeping our marriages healthy and fulfilling for both spouses. The most important thing Dr. Eggrichs points out is that none of us are wrong, just different.

I truly enjoyed this book. I not only learned how to communicate with and understand my husband better, I learned some things about myself as well. The book is easy to read and understand. Everything is broken down into sections and explained in depth. Dr. Eggrichs covers both the female perspective as well as the male perspective in all areas, which, helps us to understand the motivation of our spouse, our own motivation and reader friendly for both sexes. Dr. Eggrichs included stories from his personal life that we can all relate to. As I was reading I found myself thinking " Yes! I have been there!" or " so that is what he meant!" You can see he know what he is talking about and it all makes sense.

I would recommend this book to anyone that would like to have a healthy and happy relationship. I have encouraged my husband to read this book as well. I really believe that there is a communication gap between men and women. If we could really understand what our spouse needs and wants, there would be an improvement in even the happiest of marriages. This book can help decode what those needs and wants are on a daily basis enriching all of our lives and marriages.

I am starting off with a book called "The Language of Love & Respect" by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. I am just about finished and will let you know what I think!
